Business Name Reservation at OCR Nepal
Before registering a company in Nepal, you must reserve your proposed company name at the Office of the Company Registrar (OCR). Name reservation ensures no other company registers the same or a confusingly similar name before you complete your registration.
Rules for Company Names in Nepal
The OCR applies the following rules when evaluating name reservation requests:
- No identical names: The exact same name as an existing registered company is not allowed
- No confusingly similar names: Names that sound alike or differ only in minor ways may be rejected
- No misleading names: Names suggesting government affiliation, bank, insurance, or cooperative without proper authorization
- No offensive names: Names contrary to public order, morality, or national interests
- Suffix required: Private Limited companies must end in "Pvt. Ltd." or "Private Limited"

Before applying, search the OCR CAMIS portal to check if your proposed name is available. Submit 2–3 alternative names in order of preference.

Apply online through the CAMIS portal with your proposed names, proposed business objectives, and contact details.

Pay name reservation fee
Pay NPR 100 per name application at the OCR counter or through online payment.

OCR review (1–3 working days)
OCR reviews the application for compliance with naming rules. They approve one of your proposed names.

Receive name reservation certificate
OCR issues a name reservation certificate valid for 30 days. Begin the company registration process before it expires.
